Welcome to NHL24 and Season 48 of the SPNHL. Randymarsh2012 here, going to enlighten everyone with some of my wishful thinking since Season 48 could start with a different look compared to all other seasons.

The SPNHL is currently entertaining the option to allow co-owners this season to help spread the workload that 1 sole owner typically had to endure. In the spirit of this new potential change, I decided to do up a short list of potential co-owners that would be great for the league.

Keep in mind, this is just one man’s opinion, I have not reached out or talked to any of these people about this.

Bxrt67 & Bartlett34 – The Bart bros would be a real fun duo to play with. Both having owner experience in other leagues. they would be one of the most skilled management groups to play against. (Bartlett34 would have to carry Bxrt67’s big forehead though) Bxrt has won a few cups and was carried to an Art Ross in Season 44 by Randymarsh, so his brother Barlett34 will likely have to do the same for him.

Chadkillz & Doranz – Last season these two lead their team to an impressive regular season record and a Stanley Cup. Finishing 1 and 2 in scoring, these guys would be a great tandem to start season 48 with the mindset of defending their Season 47 cup.

Fishhure & Jhursi – Fish and Jhursi are long term SP veterans who are also BFFs. Former Hart winner Fish, and Selke candidate Jhursi would build, and be, a very competitive team. If Jhursi does his Canadian accent on the mic all season I don’t think these guys lose a game.

Hughsy & John Dean – Hughsy and John Dean have won 3 cups together in the past 6 seasons. Hughsy may be the best player SP has ever seen that hasn’t won an individual award. John Dean is one of the best 2-way centers in the game as well. If John Deans kids stay asleep and don’t cry for him in the middle of games, these guys will build a very tough team to beat.

Gxhle & HaroldJones1990 – These guys will manage to annoy every single team they play against. Gxhle (aka Cpenn), is one of the more talented players to ever play in SP. HaroldJones1990 (aka Pickletickler69, aka BillCosby, aka Pepe Toucher) on the other hand, will get under your skin with his relentless chirps in the discord and his need to run truculence and put people in body bags. Harold has won 2 cups and a Conn Smythe in recent SP history so these guys together would be a threat.

Piskin & Lomax – The oldest vets in SP, both been around since day 1. Pliskin is your league Commissioner and Lomax has been with him most of the way as well. They have great chem together and always keep a positive vibe in the party chats. Lomax may have a little bit of rust to work off, but he is a former art ross winner in this league and so is Pliskin. This team may have a slow start, but they always come round and finish the season strong clinching a playoff berth.

Beanz & Ustoopid – These brothers have always managed to somehow find their way to one another in SP so why wouldn’t they take on a team of their own? They have run successful teams in other leagues and are also two of the more dominant players in recent SP history. I hope to see them running a team and being a cup contender. Ustoopid is a Norris trophy winner, and Bean has won scoring titles in SP in previous seasons.

Hardie & Vito_Corleone – Hardie has a few cups and a Conn Smythe in SP and has played parts in helping previous SP owners in the seasons he’s played. Vito is new to the SPNHL but is strong RD who compliments Hardie very well. These two would build a very strong team to compete with all the other names listed.

Tommyboii & Bejimoszn – Tommyboii is back! Was MIA for a few seasons because he didn’t buy a PS5, but he’s here now and if he teamed up with former linemate Bejimo these guys would be off to a great start before the draft even happens. Bejimo has always been one of the better goal scorers in the league and Tommy is a former Art Ross winner.

KyleJ83 & Randymarsh2012 – Randy is KyleJ’s favorite SP player, and he would be so lucky and grateful to finally get a chance to finally play with him. Randy may agree to this we will see. Randy may not want to own with him though because hes wayyyyy better at hockey than Kyle so it will likely have to be a make a wish thing. Kyle on LW and Randy on RW seems like the kind of line that wins championships though.

If all these young gentlemen did end up taking teams it would turn out to be one of the most competitive seasons in recent memory. If I even just got 1 idea planted in any of the listed guys brains or even someone else that is reading this article, then this was a win for the league and not a waste of my time.

All hands are on deck for this one, folks. Welcome to the 47th season of the Sony PlayStation Hockey League, and get ready for things to heat up in one of the hottest summers and most competitive seasons in recent memory.

Fresh off winning the Stanley Cup, LispDoge and the St. Louis Blues are back and ready to defend their crown, but they are up against a field of talented teams with experienced players and GMs who know what they are doing. This includes the boss himself in SA_Pliskin, veterans like ThaFoSix and NowYoDead, and wildcards like Fishhure, HaroldJones1990 and PEACEKEEPER500-. Oh, Chad is there too. Big talker, that guy.

Let’s see how everybody did in assembling a team with in a pretty deep draft. Our old friend RandyMarsh2012 will be grading the Eastern conference, while Doranz- and I (BANDIT-V-HXC, FKA Dirty-Dietrich, Media Correspondent Extraordinaire) will provide some insight on the West. We’ll look at projected lineups, give a grade, and share some thoughts. That’s enough preamble. Let’s get into it!

EASTERN CONFERENCE

Detroit Red Wings

Grade: A

This team is built strong from top to bottom, the chemistry that these guys have already established from getting drunk on facetime and playing some NHL will be one of the many reasons they are successful this season. Bxrt at G is sus tho, although the guy’s forehead is so big he’ll probably stop a few shots. They have the top d-pair in the league unless hughsy forgot how to play the position since he’s been hard on C most of this NHL.

Boston Bruins

These next 3 teams are a toss-up for me, they all are equally strong in their own ways.

I based this #2 choice on the d-core with eggman and kyle, 2nd best pairing in the league with an option to put jon turner on LD as well if they want to introduce Kakko into that top 6. Choo is one of the better goalies in the draft as well and when he gets hot he is real tough to beat. Bejimo will need to start dropping some bejiclapbombs as well as bejibombs to get this offence rolling.

Buffalo Sabres

Grade: A-

I like how fosix built this team, he’s got 3 strong forwards with bean and semple leading the way with also having the option of putting ande on RW. But don’t sleep on LeRoyy, he played real well in the cup finals as an ECU and may become one of the better RWs in the league this season. With Boknows in nets you hardly even need defense, he will carry a heavy load for these guys when called upon. Fosix and Ande as a starting d-pair is solid enough to get these guys into playoffs.

Philadelphia Flyers

Projected Starting Lineup:

RW: Smitzey

G: Ranchx41x/ Gunnnxrr

Grade: A-

Although I ranked these guys last it does not mean I think they’re a bottom feeder, I think all 4 east teams will be better than the 4 West teams. (Bandit note: thanks Randall. Appreciate the vote of confidence)

The forward line (assuming heei is heelhook and not some random) will be the strongest one in the East or very close to it. The D-pairing of peace and nxtive will be their weak point, both capable of playing solid D but are a lesser pair compared to Detroit and Boston. Gunnnxrr and Ranch are both real solid G options so no matter what these guys will have a more than competent goalie in nets.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

Vegas Golden Knights

Grade: A

Chad might be quiet and 5 feet tall at the most, but he assembled a solid team. uStooPiiD and Doranz- form a highly formidable 1-2 punch on offense, while JHochman and xShxyne are a defensive duo that will compliment each other’s strengths. I’ll be around, just skating and screwing with the other teams. The depth that this team has is impressive as well, with Alpha-33x and curlew77 being stellar backup options on the right side, while Blade0Muffin and our old friend IceyAsyluml23l round out a goalie trio (perhaps duo if Chad decides he wants to play with the big boys) that will backstop Vegas to some wins.

St. Louis Blues

Grade: B+

What catches my eye right away is this forward line; RandyMarsh2012 is an excellent right winger who can drive offense, but his stats as a center leave something to be desired. KarlssonIsGod and WeekendNachos19 are dynamic wingers who will pair well with Randall, and this team is backstopped by a Norris-caliber defender in Gourr- and the reigning, cup defending GM in LispDoge. Mooner2019 has proven himself to be one of the best goalies in virtual hockey, and was a great little round 5 steal for STL. They’ve got iamsmokxy-_-     as a backup forward and shock_r as a backup goalie, so this team has the potential to repeat if they don’t get toxic and implode on themselves.

Colorado Avalanche

Projected Starting Lineup:

Grade: B (Bandit note: a bit generous, are we Pizzaboy?)

So, this will likely get me some flack, but the next two teams are going to be #7 and #8 in the league by the end of the season in their current states.

Coloardo has a strong right side, with Bxrt1_ and ChuckMTL- being a dangerous duo up front and ol’ reliable in John_Dean_16 on RD. Aside from that, their top 6 has a couple of question marks for me. desiredsno3 is not that starting LW that a team needs, and Plisk, I love ya, but you’re a wrecking ball at LD and can be a liability. Morrow_2867 is a solid G, but he was taken too early for being goalie only and there being too many solid wingers left on the board. EL_R_O_O_K_I_E, teamrun420, and ivanthygreat are serviceable backup options, but you guys got x2apollo4x. You’re carrying on the Colorado Curse!

Calgary Flames

Don’t go drinking on draft night, kiddos.

This ain’t it, Dead. Sniiiider and Jcpens22 were two great wingers to start with, so I had hope, but then it started to slowly crumble away. OGMastaLegend is a big question mark for me, as his stats in other leagues aren’t promising, and Shawnk0409 is a good forward but you need a solid C to contend. Goaltending on this squad is where the weakness really shows – your best option is Sportsgeek5, but drafted Pc3poseidon before him. I see xshepxrd stepping up and playing LD or C for this squad, but it’s going to be a tough task to try and contend and return to the glory that Dead brought Calgary a few summers ago.

Who knows – Doranz-, RandyMarsh2012, and I may be talking a whole lot of trash that we just can’t back up, but we’ve been around these leagues for a while. We’ve seen people come and go, promises be unfulfilled, and Cinderella stories be willed into existence. It’s a short season, and a small pool (even less teams than the CFL!), so let’s see how it all plays out. I’m sure there will be fireworks aplenty in the weeks that come as these eight teams try to etch their names in virtual hockey history!

Greetings, everyone! I’m LispDoge, the Champion of Season 46. I wanted to take a moment to recap my journey throughout the season, from being a player in the previous season to becoming a GM for the first time in the SPNHL and ultimately winning the cup. So, let’s dive into it.

It all started in Season 45 when I finally got NHL 23 after not playing any NHL game since 2021. I was looking for new leagues to get back into the game and came across the “SPNHL Season 45” in the Kinglymes discord channel. Excited to return to EASHL, I signed up and awaited my fate in the league’s discord. Draft night arrived, and in the 9th Round, I was drafted by the Flyers. Thus, my new journey began.

Joining the Flyers, I played alongside Boknows, Reimattack, Hughsy28-, Jonturner, and Jcpens. I let them know that I was new to chel and had to adapt to the game’s changes. Despite some challenges and encountering a few trolling teammates(Turner and Boknows) but to my surprise I had a GM who I actually enjoyed playing with, I knew it would be a memorable season.

Season 45 started well, except for some unfortunate sui lineups I had to be a part of. I also ended up playing goalie for most of our random club games to be able to play with Hughsy and whomever he’d invite, though at the beginning I’d be roasted for using the right stick and doing somersaults in net. Eventually, I had my first goalie game against Carolina, where I performed well and secured a victory for the Flyers. However, after a game of Among Us where I eliminated Hughsy28, he put me on the trade block. I was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights, but my teammates I was traded with disappeared, and I felt alone with a new squad and a french guy named philmoron, who loved to make me feel depressed playing this game. Nonetheless, with the help from my therapist Shock_R I persevered, knowing that vengeance awaited me in the following season.

In Season 46, I decided to become a GM, despite facing criticism from the SPNHL community. I was determined to prove them wrong. Before the draft, I already had a clear plan of who I wanted to draft, especially talented players who hadn’t played in SPNHL before. Among those players were EpicxSkillzy, YuhAtti, Snipersoda10, Boston3430, and oPastrnak. The draft went better than expected, and I managed to acquire most of my desired players. With my roster set, I was ready to make them regret doubting me.

However, before the season began, I faced some challenges, including trading some core players early on. Despite setbacks, I fixed my mistakes early on and made further trades to strengthen my team. I also made the decision to switch from playing forward to becoming the team’s starting goalie. As the regular season concluded, I had a solid record, although my teammates sometimes prevented me from achieving shutouts and a better save percentage, especially boston3430, Weekendnachos, and at times Lappy. 

Heading into the playoffs, I felt confident that the St. Louis Blues, my team, would be victorious. However, the first-round series against the Sharks proved to be a close call, with ups, but felt like mostly downs, with most of our core squad not being able to play Tuesday due to other league scheduling, to 10:30 games being troll games where our team was playing with a stick up their butts. . We eventually won in Game 7, winning considerably in out performing our opponents, securing our spot in the next round.

Onto the next series against Coyotes, after Chico decided to schedule Bejimoszn for tuesday in LG, and proceeded to shit talk me with Crexmin in dm’s I realized that I was going to get in their heads the rest of the series. They made it easy for me in game 1 when they showed up way too late to where RatDoge pulled the first Forfeit in the playoffs. Then game 2 proceeded to defeat them 10-7, where I put in 5 goals myself, I decided missrogue deserved another chance at goalie after that game but ultimately let a goal in from not holding her post game 3, and lost the game 2-1. So then we led 2-1 in the series, when it should have very well been 3-0. Going into Thursday I knew I was going back up at Center, and brought in ECU Alpha in net, so that we could hit our 10 guys as LIAME0108 didn’t want to play and wanted to go to a Katy Perry concert instead. Game 4 happened and Lappy, Bejimoszn, and LispDoge all scored against the Coyotes, winning the game 4-3 in regulation with 3 of their players getting kicked by playstation for updating their license for the game. Game 5 saw LispDoge back in goal, conceding early goals but mounting a comeback. Unfortunately, we lost in overtime due to a difficult-to-stop shortside goal, narrowing the series lead to 3-2. In the crucial game 6, fueled by previous trash talk, the Blues delivered a dominant 5-0 shutout, causing the Coyotes to quit with 6 minutes remaining. This ironically mirrored the Avalanche’s defeat in the previous series.

In the finals, we ended up facing skepticism from the SPNHL community. People believed the Devils would win within 6, counting the Blues out as they did all playoffs. We started strong, taking a 2-0 series lead against the Devils, fueling heated exchanges in the shoutbox. However, in Game 3, the Devils managed to secure a victory, with john_dean_16 scoring a crucial overtime goal that I think this game should never allow to go in. In Game 4, we made some lineup changes, including ECU Alpha returning as the goalie. Alpha’s exceptional performance helped the us win 4-3 in overtime. Moving on to Game 5, we stuck with a similar lineup, but I went on LW, which was a terrible choice and suffered a 4-2 regulation loss. Undeterred, I decided to switch back up to what has worked for us all season, putting myself in the net, and bring Lappy out for game 6. We ended up taking a 5-0 lead going into the 3rd period and from there it was all over. Finishing the game winning 5-3 and everyone on the Blues officially securing their first Spnhl cup in most of their first season. With Missrogue taking home the Conn Smythe (yes our team chose her, no one else wants the salary increase).

I wanted to give a shoutout to quite a few people, 

First I want to say thank you to Ustoopiid, Randymarsh, Mrlolchico, Hughsy28-, and Sa_Pliskin for making this one of the most competitive Seasons of any league I’ve managed in/been a part of. To the other gm’s I want to say thank you to most of you who didn’t forfeit games and played even when you didn’t have your full lineup and made things work. 

Secondly to my teammates for putting up with me trolling them half of the season, Thank you to Boston3430 for bringing me down a peg when I’d be in net scoring on me yourself so I dont get a shutout. Thank you, Bejimoszn, Lappy, weekendnachos, patjoyce, yuhatti-, and epicxskillzy for playing when I needed you guys to, and not trying to ego, because you knew we were going to win this league no problem <3. Thank you Missrogue for being my backup goalie, and when it actually mattered you didn’t let me down, and was supportive the whole way, even if you were on the tradeblock for legit most of the whole season. 

Lastly, I want to thank all the Ecu’s/tcs who’d play for any team regardless of what place they were in and came to show up. Turdburglar, mxttyice, Alpha-33x, Kakko(even though fuck you), Blackman_mafia, Hymanninthesky, and rickyxbobby. Be proud of yourselves for coming into games even though you could have chosen to not show up for any games as some of you weren’t on any roster.

Overall I must say, Season 46 was a remarkable journey filled with ups and downs, challenges, and triumphs. I’m proud of our achievements, and I look forward to defending this cup next season with all the future Blues (Jonturner, thafosix you’re coming home!)
