Eastern Conference Round 1 Playoff Matchup

SPNHL S38 Eastern Conference Round 1 Playoff Matchup
Matchup 1:
4th seed Montreal Canadiens (19-24-2) vs 1st seed- New Jersey Devils (36-9-0)
First off, we have our quarter final matchup between ElRookie and the Habs and TrueLegend and the Devils. One team climbed out of the basement to grab the 4th playoff spot in the East while the other was sitting pretty at the top of the standings all season long.
Best Line Predictions:

Advantages:
Offence: New Jersey >>>> Montreal- Big advantage to NJ
Defence: New Jersey > Montreal- Pretty close but slight advantage to NJ
Goaltending: New Jersey >>>>>>>>>> Montreal- not even close
Depth: New Jersey >>>>>>- Big advantage NJ
Keys to Success:
Montreal: In order for this team to take this series the team has to be absolutely perfect. They have a great top pair with Wally and Royal and good two way forwards in Exe, Chief and SE7. They’re going to have to keep pucks out of their net and take advantage of their opportunities.
New Jersey: Honestly, as a 36-9-0 team who has been dominant all season long, they have to just play like they can and will take this series easily.
Key Matchup:
TrueLegend07 LW vs DrWally RD
The winner of this matchup will determine how this series will go. If Wally can keep True in check, this series could be extended till late Tuesday. However, if True wins this head to head, this series could be over early.
Prediction: Devils in 5
Matchup 2:
3rd seed New York Islanders (21-22-2) vs 2nd seed Toronto Maple Leafs (26-17-2)
Next series, includes Icey’s Isles and toslick’s Leafs. These 2 teams stayed consistent in the standings throughout the season in the weaker Eastern Conference.
Best Lines Prediction:
New York Islanders:
LW- Pfarrcyde23 GP:25 G:32 A:52 PTS:84 P/GP: 3.4 -13
C- Lo-Maximus GP:26 G:22 A:40 PTS:62 P/GP: 2.4 -18

RD-Mpurch GP: 29 G:6 A:23 PTS:29 P/GP:1 -21

Toronto Maple Leafs:

C- GrammyHands GP:21 G:54 A:53 PTS:107 P/GP: 5.1 +35
RW- toslick GP:18 G:49 A:26 PTS:75 P/GP:4.2 +31
LD- MikeeTeeze GP:5 G:5 A:11 PTS:16 P/GP:3.2 +12
RD- shepard-88- GP:16 G:2 A:15 PTS:17 P/GP:1.1 +22
G- chadkillz134 GP:17 14-3 77sv% 3.35GAA
Advantages:
Offence: Toronto >>> New York- Both teams have good forward cores but advantage TOR
Defence: Toronto >>>>>> New York- Big advantage to TOR
Goalie: Toronto >>>>>>>>>> New York- Not even close
Depth: Toronto >>>>>> New York- Both teams have some depth but TOR is the deepest team in the league
Keys to Success:
New York: The offence of this team will have to do all the heavy lifting for them in this series. If the defence and goaltending doesn’t step up, it’ll be a shootout which they do not have a chance to win against this Leafs high power offence.
Toronto: This team at 26-17-2 has more FF L’s than actual L’s. If the team is able to field a roster of 6 guys, this will be an easy series for the Leafs.
Key Matchup:
Toslick RW vs Pfarrcyde LW/C
Which of these forwards will lead their offence better? Toslick has an extremely talented supporting cast with guys like Gram, Semple, Chico, Mike, Shep, Dead and DP where Pfarr has less help but isn’t alone with guys like Lo, Randy and Clark. Both of these players have the ability to dominate but who’s it going to be?
Prediction: Leafs in 5
Good luck to all teams playing!

Final team breakdown and Award predictions

Hey everyone, if you are curious to see the spreadsheet let me know and I would love to share it with you. Underneath will be a quick description of the Z-Scores if you missed the Stats lesson 2 weeks ago.
Team Stats:
• Calculated the average and standard deviation of each stat then compared it to each team (0 is average, less than 0 below average, bigger than 0 above average)
• After doing this for each category I added them all together to get 1 number which I bolded
Forward Stats:
• Did the same thing as the team stats but this time used stats like G/GP, A/GP, Pts/GP, S/GP, S%, Discipline (pims/GP), H/GP, GV/GP, TK/GP
• After doing this for each category I added them all together to get 1 number (Total) which I bolded
Defense Stats
• Did the same thing as the team stats but this time used stats like G/GP, A/GP, Pts/GP, S/GP, S%, Discipline (pims/GP), H/GP, GV/GP, TK/GP
• After doing this for each category I added them all together to get 1 number (Total) which I bolded
Goalie Stats
• Did similar to team stats using stats like W%, L%, SA/GP, SV/GP, GAA, SO/GP
• After doing this for each category I added them all together to get 1 number (Total) which I bolded

Tuesday GOTN

Tuesday GOTN
Florida (15-23-1 31p) at Montreal (17-20-2 36p) 9:45pm
With the last playoff spot still up for grabs and Florida just 5 points out with 6 games left to play this match-up with Montreal is huge for them if they plan on making it into that last spot.
Series Record
MTL leads the match-up 4-1
FLA 6-4
MTL 1-0
MTL 5-4
MTL 1-0
MTL 12-4
Projeted Lines
FLA (Not Posted as of 3pmet 12.15.20)
I am going to say this might be the lineup
LW Rambo
C Kap
RW Brucelee
LD Billy

MTL
LW SE7ENTEE
C LL_CHIEF2STEP_LL
RW eXecuti0n80
LD A-mason_4
RD EL_R_O_O_K_I_E
G KQ31
So coming into Tuesday Night Montreal is 2-1 after Monday’s games while Florida is also 2-1 after Monday’s games.
Montreal has dominated the regular season matchup as of now and with the current lineup they have posted I do not see that changing. Florida has played a great season but it looks like they will be going on vacation after Friday night. So Montreal with a win here will be punching their ticket into the playoffs
Prediction – MTL 7-3

SPNHL S38 Week 5 Monday GOTN

SPNHL S38 Week 5 Monday GOTN
Arizona Coyotes (32-4-0 1st in the West, 1st in the league) @ New Jersey Devils (28-8-0 1st in the East, 2nd in the league)
Tonight’s matchup includes the best in the West up against the best in the East. The Yotes are looking to create some separation on the Presidents Trophy race while the Devils are looking create some separation on the rest of the East. Both teams had an excellent 8-1 week 4 which one of these squads will possibly be handed their first L of the week?
Head to Head this season:
Game 1: 4-1 New Jersey W
Game 2: 6-3 Arizona W
Starting Lineups:
Arizona Coyotes:
LW- bluedevil631
C- xToxiCBoY-_-
RW- Fishhure
LD- sendthemnoods
RD- Xtracts07
G- TopCheeseNeon
New Jersey Devils:
LW- TrueLegend07
C- cHELIOS-7x
RW- bstieboydp
LD- Cuban1616
RD-DetAjax17
G-thrice01
Quick stats:
Looking like the Coyotes are playing line 1 (I mean the whole team is basically Line 1) and the Devils are going to be matching it with their Game 7 lineup.
This Coyotes forward line is scary, as a group they average over 4PPG and on defence Noods and tracts average almost 2 PPG while also putting on the clamps. In net Neon holds a 12-1 record with a 78 save%. The Devils forward group is not far behind, league leading scorer True plays with Chelios and Bstie to create one of the more solid forward lines in the league. Ajax and Cuban on defence add that vet clamps presence, they will have their hands full but if anyone can do it, it’s this pair. In net, thrice is having a Vezzy caliber season with a 17-5 record with an 81 save%.
Prediction:
If the Coyotes want to win this game, they’re going to have to play a good system 200-foot game. If they try and play run and gun against this larger Devils roster, they will get stomped. The Devils need to take advantage of their opportunities while playing physical against this highly skilled Coyotes team.
End of the day, I have faith in my squad and know if we play smart and well, we can beat any team in the SPNHL. The Devils are no easy opponent but I think Toxiczona will come out on top.
Score Predictions:
Tommy- ARI 4-3, Cuban- NJ 4-3
Stats Predictions:
Fishhure: 2 goals 2 assists
xToxiCBoY-_- 3 assists
bluedevil631: 2 goals
sendthemnoods: 2 assists
Truelegend07: 1 goal 2 assists
Bstieboydp: 2 goals 1 assist
DetAjax17: 1 assist
TopCheeseNeon: 12 shots against 9 saves
Thrice01: 20 shots against 16 saves

Week 4 Eastern Power Rankings

Week 4 Eastern Power Rankings
1) New Jersey Devils (28-8-0) Week 4: 8-1-0
With one week left in the season the Devils are 10 points up on the rest of the East and will probably maintain this top spot. Their only loss of the week was a 5-2 game against the Maple Leafs on Friday night. True still doing his thing, the depth is also still performing, defence and goaltending still maintaining their play. Looking like this this team will play the Islanders or Canadiens in round 1 either squad is not going to give them a hard time. They should use this week to build some confidence and momentum for the playoffs. They do play tough teams in Seattle, Arizona and Toronto this week so they will get tested.
Record Prediction: 34-10-1 (6-2-1 week 5)
2) Toronto Maple Leafs (22-12-2) Week 4: 7-2-0
At the deadline Toslick added 2 vets in NowYoDead and DPtickler who were teammates with slick just last season, great pickups (For basically nothing). The Leafs went 1-2 on Monday night but ended the week going 6-0, this squad is possibly one of the deeper ones in the league now with very little weak links. Their studs in Grammy, Slick, Semple, Shep, Chico, Mike, Chad (the list goes on) will help give this squad another stellar week to close the season. Looking like this this team will play the Islanders or Canadiens in round 1 either squad is not going to give them a hard time. With games against New Jersey, Arizona and Seattle it is unlikely they go 9-0 but who knows. They should use this week to build some confidence and momentum for the playoffs.
Record Prediction: 30-13-2 (8-1-0 week 5)
3) New York Islanders (16-18-2) Week 4: 4-5-0
At the deadline, the Isles were busy, they added to their forward and defensive depth acquiring Owen and Clark but, their goaltending took a hit. After another mediocre 4-5 week, this squad is going to limp into the playoffs and have the pleasure of playing either New Jersey or Toronto. They do have a really tough week playing Seattle, St Louis, Colorado, New Jersey, Montreal and Toronto. This team is certainly going to have to pull up their socks if they want to keep that #3 seed with Montreal right on their tails. Icey and Pens will have to step up in the crease to match the play Eddie provided for them.
Record Prediction: 19-23-3 (3-5-1 week 5)
4) Montreal Canadiens (15-19-2) Week 4: 5-4-0
Another GM who was busy working the phones was ELRookie. He did a nice retool and this team addressed a need they had with defensive depth BUT it costed them most of their goal scoring. Outside of Royal, Rookie, KQ and Se7entee the whole roster is different from the start of week 4 adding 3 bigger names, Execution, DrWally and Chief2step. I have to give Rook some credit, the team definitely looks like they will be tougher to play against, props to you. With games against, Colorado, St Louis, Arizona, Florida, Toronto, New Jersey and New York, they’re going to have to secure some wins if they want to climb the ladder and reach that #3 seed. Goal scoring and goaltending do have some question marks but I feel that overall the team has gotten better.
Record Prediction: 19-23-3 (4-4-1 week 5)
5) Florida Panthers (13-22-1) Week 4: 2-7-0
Unfortunately for Cook, this team is on the downhill, since Tuesday of week 3 this team is an abysmal 3-12-0. The boys in Florida are still in striking distance for a playoff spot but I do believe the roster has gotten weaker and need to change their ways in order to hop into a playoff spot. Newly acquired Kap and Rambo are guys Cook will likely look to drive this team’s offence with older faces like fivestar, cook and brucelee will probably be there for support. With games against Seattle, Colorado, St Louis, Montreal, New Jersey, New York and Toronto, every game is looking like a must win for this squad. Sorry Florida, I think you guys will be golfing come Saturday.
Record Prediction 16-27-2 (3-5-1 week 5)
6) Philadelphia Flyers (6-30-0) Week 4: 2-7-0
Alright team say it with me. THREE. MORE. DAYS. It was not a pretty season for the Flyers but obtaining that first overall pick is a goal that seems like will be alright. Unfortunately for you guys the La Kings are not that far ahead of you guys, I don’t condone tanking but at this point, just show up try your best and have some fun y’all got this.
Record Prediction: 8-37-0 (2-7-0 week 5)

West Week 4 Power Rankings

West Week 4 Power Rankings
One week left until playoffs and plenty of teams making moves to prepare here are how things played out this week in the West leading up to the final week of the Regular season
#1 Arizona 8-1 for week 4
Arizona with yet another strong week and only one loss to St. Louis 6-4 as their only blemish. Going into week 5 they have the opportunity to win the President Trophy for best record. Week 5 also presents this team an opportunity to measure up possible Stanley Cup Final opponents with games versus NJ and Toronto Monday. Other than Monday this team is going through the motions finishing up the season and really gearing up for the playoffs in what seems as an inevitable appearance in the Finals.
Week 5 Predication: 7-2
#2 St. Louis 7-2 for week 4
St. Louis answered a lot of questions this week after having a 5-4 week in week 3 by going 7-2 in week 4 with losses to Seattle 6-5 Monday and Toronto 3-1 Friday they avenged the loss to Seattle later this week with a 6-5 win and also added a big win versus Arizona 6-4. For week 5 St. Louis has locked the #2 seed up and have really only 3 games that can hand them losses against Arizona, Seattle and Colorado who are all playoff teams. With the playoffs around the corner and this lineup finding it’s chemistry could lead into some really sweaty hockey next week.
Week 5 Predication: 8-1
#3 Seattle 6-3 for week 4
Seattle had a nice week but took 3 losses to the top two teams in the West (Arizona loss2 and St. Louis split 1-1). But they weren’t honestly that bad in those losses. But the big thing this team can takeaway from week 4 is they can compete with those top two teams and could definitely make some noise in 2 weeks when the playoffs start. Week 5 presents this team with an option. Battle out to hold on to the 3 seed and face St. Louis in round one or take the week off slide down to the 4 seed and play Arizona. With their schedule for week 5 lined up with 7 games against all teams in the playoffs they will have the opportunity to measure themselves going into the playoffs and making a decision on what path they’d like to take
Week 5 Predication: 4-5
#4 Colorado 4-5 for week 4
Going into week 4 the question about this team was “Are they able to compete with the top teams going to the playoffs?” The answer “No” with losses to all the teams in the playoffs with winning records and wins only against the bottom two teams in the West. Colorado has locked up the 4 spot in the playoffs and depending on what Seattle does in week 5 they may move into the 3 spot but will they figure out what they need to do to play against the teams like Arizona or St. Louis to push them over the top and make a run. Week 5 presents itself as a possible strong week as they play some very winnable games that then lead up to 3 games vs the top west teams setting up the final measure for this team.
Week 5 Predication: 6-3
#5 LA 1-8 for week 4
Moving up to the 5 spot is LA. Great job by this team showing up to just about every game this week with only 1 forfeit. Their only win was against Chicago but a win is a win regardless of the opponent. They almost beat NYI on Friday also so they got some traction going into week 5. Which for this team getting to this point without a change of GM and only one forfeit all season is kudos to Sports for still keeping his commitment to the league and to at least put guys on the ice every night looking to play. Regardless of what anyone says or feel I appreciate the effort Sports and I personally want to say Thank you buddy and keep up the amazing job. Lots of people think it’s easy being a GM until they are and many quit or give up and ruin the experience for many players who played on the team and you’ve done a phenomenal job pushing through and to all the players who played for you or filled in I tip my hat to you for playing and being available and I am sure you’ll find a spot on a roster next season.
Week 5 Prediction: 1-8
#6 Chicago 0-9 for week 4
Chicago is this weeks “Under New Management” team as hypey is out and Bmarche is in
This team forfeited 5 of their first 6 games week 4 and under Bmarche played all 3 Friday and my hope is that he gets enough guys to play all 9 for week 5. I understand that there is currently a small pool of players to fill in if there are availability issues but if
Coffey-lidstrom, Dedstarks, shrEd_Slice, xLoyalty96, donutspenton, Shock_r can show up and give Bmarche guys to play and they don’t forfeit any games it’s a huge plus and a great finish for this team. Week 5 gives Chicago a shot at possibly 2 winnable games and an opportunity to throw monkey wrench against any of the top playoff teams
Week 5 Predication: 1-8
So week 4 is in the books and week 5 drama at this point comes down to the final 8 teams that are making the playoffs getting their teams situated for a run at the Cup. I will not have a week 5 power ranking but I will have a West Round 1 playoff matchup article.
Here’s to hopefully playing an entire week without a GM switch or a forfeit.

SPNHL WEEK 4 FRIDAY GOTN

SPNHL WEEK 4 FRIDAY GOTN
ARI v SEA 9:45PM
Friday’s matchup is between 2 out of the top three teams in the West and if Seattle can win all 3 tonight and finish next week strong they can move I to the number 2 spot. But if any team has something to say about it it’s this Arizona squad who wants to make sure the West knows who’s the best team is and it’s them
Current Lines for the game tonight
STL
LW – bluedevil
C – Fluri
RW – Fishhure
LD – Xtracts
RD – Ricky69bobby
G – TopCheeseNeon
SEA
LW – Reaper
C – Konecny
RW – LeCupidon
LD – beaster
RD – CaptCanada
G – Duckyy315
Quick Stats
Arizona comes in 5-1 record this week with 30 goals scored in those 6 games
With Fluri 97 points, Fish 78 points and bluedevil 72 points. There is no doubt they will continue that scoring tonight. Even xtracts has 30 points on D.
TopCheeseNeon has a 77 SV% this year and with that team scoring he won’t need to worry about giving up any goals that could cost his team a game
Seattle comes in with a 4-2 record so far this week with losses only to Arizona and St. Louis and scored 20 goals in those 6 games
LeCupid 101 points and Reaper 91 points and Konecny 81 points are this teams top scoring line and they will need it to keep up with Arizona
Duckyy is in net with a record of 10-7 with a 69 SV% which is higher from earlier in the week.
Prediction
Arizona is definitely the best team in the West and in my opinion the best team in the league this year. They have already won and earlier battle with this team this week 6-5
Seattle may have made some late additions to better their team and chances to make a run at the cup but I just think it’s not enough at this point to dethrone this Arizona team
Arizona 7-3

SPNHL Season 38 12/08/2020 Game of the Night

SPNHL Season 38 12/08/2020 Game of the Night
Montreal Canadiens 5th in East (12-16-2) @ New Jersey Devils 1st in East (23-7-0)
Tonight’s matchup includes one team battling for their playoff lives and the other looking to create some distance from the rest of the pact. Can Montreal turn this horrible start around and turn this 1-2 start of the week around or will New Jersey come back after an embarrassing 11-3 loss to the Habs just last week?
Head to Head this season:
Game 1: 6-2 New Jersey W
Game 2: 2-1 Montreal W
Game 3: 11-3 Montreal W
Starting Lineups:
Montreal Canadiens:
LW- CapBan_Clark1999
C- Xx_Kapanen_Xx
RW- xHAC_Rambo
LD- Royalkc85
RD- EL_R_O_O_K_I_E
G- Pensrul066
New Jersey Devils:
LW- TrueLegend07
C- cHELIOS-7x
RW- NTyrell14
LD- MayhemX113
RD- Cuban1616
G- Handsome_dusty
Quick stats:
Looking like Montreal is putting out their “top” line while the Devils have decided to throw in their secondary guys.
Rambo leads the Habs with 52 points in 16GPs, Royal with 11 points and 37 takeaways in 12GPs and Pensrul066 supports a 66.99 save% (yikes). True looking to backpack his backups in this one, he’s got 113 points in 28 GPs. Cuban with 59 takeaways in 21 GPs is good enough to put him in the top 5, Dusty in the net supports a 9-3 record with a 75.29 save% nice numbers for the backup.
Prediction:
If the Habs are going to win this game, they’re going to have to put up a lot of goals, if the Devils want to win this game, they’re going to have to play a good 5-man defence game while also taking advantage of their opportunities. The lines are as dead even as it can get, Montreal’s top line pretty much matches the Devil’s line 2.
End of the day, I’m going with the team with the best player on the ice: Truelegend. The Devil’s desperately don’t want to be embarrassed like they did last week and True’s going to continue his Hart like season.
Score: NJ 4-2
Truelegend: 3 goals 1 assist
Kapanen: 1 goal 1 assist
RoyalKC: 0 goals 1 assist
Ntyrell: 0 goals 3 assists
Dusty: 15 shots against 13 saves
Pensrule066: 12 shots against 8 saves

SPNHL WEEK 4 MONDAY GOTN

SPNHL WEEK 4 MONDAY GOTN
STL v SEA
Tonight’s a match up of risers and fallers…Can St. Louis get back in rhythm in time for a playoff run or are the Kraken rising from the deep bottom of the standings to show that they are going to prove the haters wrong.
Current Lines for the game tonight
STL
LW – xSicKMoTioNz (TC)
C – PistolPete
RW – Kidmon3y
LD – Matrikstl
RD – Polar
G – Jeiel
SEA
LW – Reaper
C – Yes
RW – LeCupidon
LD – beaster
RD – CaptCanada
G – Duckyy315
Quick Stats
St. Louis comes in with a 20-7 record with 40 points 2nd in the West. They have scored 141 goals and allowed 92
Kid with 99 points and Pete with 87 are two of the top 3 scores for the team playing tonight
Jeiel is the top goalie for the team posting a 9-2 record with a 75 SV%
Seattle comes in with a 14-12-1 record with 29 points 3rd in the West. They have scored 125 goals and allowed 115
LeCupid with 88 points and Reaper with 88 points are this teams two of the top 3 scores playing tonight
Duckyy is in net with a record of 8-5 with a 67 SV%
Prediction
With the two out of the 3 top scores from each team playing tonight there should be no issues with these teams being able to put some goals up. Then the questions comes to D and Net which is 50/50 split. STL is without their consistent pair of curtis and ExE but are playing their top goalie in Jeiel while for SEA they are bringing their everyday pair of CaptCanada and beaster but are playing ducky in net who’s numbers do not sit well
At the end of the day I am leaning towards the D in front of the net compared to the goalie. Teams in front of the net help good goalies look great and great goalies look like Gods.
SEA 4-3
