The Season 26 Stanley cup champions, The Chicago Black Hawks!!!!!!

After a thrilling season and an epic finish the hawks come back from a 3-0 deficit to upset and completely steal the cup in game 7 from the heavily favored New York Rangers.  A few line up changes from Chicago along with a handful of lucky breaks including a few questionable decisions by the Rangers went a long way to deliver the most exciting series of SPNHL history.
The hawks consist of General manager FiVEpointOHHH, CPT Fivestarcoock, HartySauce67, ACK-stonerboy, FIshhure, studword, Wukie89, Al_bundy128, Chalgi4ka, xTreeOfLife.
For many of the hawks this is the first cup win but for GM FivePointOHHH, this was his first ever cup final and if memory serves his first real playoff run.  So a special congratulations to him for finally claiming the ultimate prize after such a long and patient GM career.
Conn Smythe award seems to be unanimous among the Hawks.  They have elected xTreeOfLife their playoff MVP.  Congratulations to him and if you have not yet, check out the cup final broadcast to see why they all feel he deserves it.
Congratulations once more from the SPNHL.  An incredible finish and we look forward to see you all in season 27.  Next season will begin in the new year.  Merry Christmas and have a safe and awesome new year!

WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS DUCKS:BLACKHAWKS

Here we are, game 1 of the western conference finals. The story explains itself, it almost seems that these two teams were destined to meet and the fireworks start tonight. For Anaheim, not only do they have the Vezina winning, Hart winning and Roger Crozier saving grace award winner Vezzy between the pipes, but also have Selke winning Reaper alongside King Clancy award winner KIDMON3y. 5 awards alone provided to this Ducks teams shows that they are more than ready to face this tough Blackhawks team. The Ducks Defense has been shut down since day 1, DougCBJ and Mikeal have been the stopping force ahead of Vezzy for this entire SPNHL season. Cookieman Has 8 pts in the playoffs thus far and looks to do more damage when he jumps on LW beside KID n Reap.

Chicago is looking to finish what they started, after beating a heavily favored LA team and kicking them out of the playoffs, the Black Hawks look to do the same against Anaheim. X
tree and Fish are two dangerous opponents any team would build a defensive breakdown against, Both notching 8 pts they are ready to deal some damage in Cali. Studword and Chal both look to shut down this potent Ducks offense with their strong board battles puck moving abilities while Fivestar and Bundy look to stonewall their way to the Stanley Cup Final.

Should be a great series as these two get it going tonight at 9om est, only on SPSN

Pittsburgh vs New Jersey Quarter Finals

We’re on to Round 2, with the Penguins coming off an emotional 6 game victory over the Leafs, while the Devils have been waiting after their Round 1 bye.
This is an intriguing series as just a few weeks ago we’d be viewing the Devils as clear favorites, but Polor’s team continues to impress and shouldn’t be written off. Let’s break them down.
Pittsburgh:
If the first round proved anything, it’s that this club is more than capable of taking down a high-flying offense. In 6 tight games vs the Leafs, the Pens gave up 20 goals while PNC put up a .783sv%. TYLERisGOD69 and Brodtshadow13 both stole the show in that opening round, playing all 6 games and putting up 18 pts (3pts/g) each. On defense, Ajax and Polor both had phenomenal first rounds offensively, but their defensive game could be tightened up, and I expect to see this happen. There are no real holes I can find in this line up coming out of that first round. They executed a perfect plan that was successful against the Leafs, and I expect the same formula against the Devils. However, the Devils have an exponentially better defensive core than Toronto so these Pens forwards will need to find another gear to keep their numbers up.
New Jersey:
These guys are cup contenders, and rightfully so. Cuban has put together a great squad here and you know they’re hungry to start this series. Up front, Burst, cornect, and Trout are expected to lead the offense. This has been a glorious return to SP for Burst and he’s capable of putting the Devils on his back for what could be a short series. On defense, expect Cuban and Iachoku to be a solid pair. Their numbers all season made them one of the best pairs in the league when availability allowed them to play together, and there’s a good chance they’ll immediately slow the impressive Pens offense of Round 1. In goal, there are questions. Rancher finished with a very respectable .788sv%, but the sample is somewhat small as he didn’t face many shots in his appearances. If the Pens can break the Devils defense, Rancher will need to stand tall in what will be a much bigger challenge than what he faced this season.
Prediction:
A tough one to call. This could be a short series, but something tells me it’ll be a fight. I want to see Polor’s amazing turnaround continue, but it’s likely to end here. Devils in 6.

Rangers vs Bruins Quarter Finals

The SP-best Rangers are ready to make their post-season debut in a series that might be more interesting than people expect. Their opponent, Pete’s Boston Bruins, are one of few teams to beat the Rangers in regulation this season, with close match ups in all but one game. This preview will be formatted differently as we’re all aware of the Rangers strengths, and the Bruins received their preview last week.
New York wins the series if…
They continue the consistency that led them to be one of the most successful teams SP has seen. MG, Ransom, and mjvoell make up one of the most dangerous offensive lines and their ability to adapt to many different styles of offense should translate into playoff success. However, offense from the defense is really the strength of this team and could prove too much for the Bruins. Although Boston’s defense is great, the defensive play from their forwards was somewhat untested in round one and expect Stiivii and Breezy to put up big numbers and ultimately lead the way. Kozmo has an unbelievable team in front of him and likely won’t be tested often. When he is tested, he should be up to the task against an offensive line from Boston that disappointed in their first round vs. Ottawa.
Boston wins the series if…
The defense holds up to the standards of their second half and the first round. Dynasty on RD and Dodges on LD in round one gave the high-flying Senators offense nothing, keeping them to 2 goals or less for 5 out of 6 games. Pistolpete enjoyed an 11 goal first round, but he was the only Bruin forward to score more than 2 goals. If this doesn’t change, the Bruins could be facing a sweep. After writing about Cupidon in the round 1 match up, it’s shocking to see him put up just 1 goal in 4 games – was the regular season a mirage? Boston’s forwards will need to be significantly better if they stand a chance. In goal, Rambo stepped up with a better first round than his regular season play, but he’ll face a tougher challenge here and he still needs to find another gear. That said, this is a team that was able to shut down the Rangers in the regular season and keep their chances limited even in losses when the goaltending didn’t hold up. An amazing round from Rambo and continued blue-line brilliance could be enough for the upset.
Closing words.
It’s hard to imagine the Rangers losing this series with the talent they possess at every position. Once again, Boston’s forwards were surprisingly quiet vs. Ottawa and that can’t continue here. Most importantly, I expect the Bruins goaltending will crack here and allow no less than 4 goals/game, sending the Rangers off to the Conference Finals with ease.
Prediction: Rangers in 5
Individual predictions:
BOS- Despite giving up over 20 goals this series, Dynasty and Dodges will carry the best defensive numbers in the series
BOS- Rambo will have a series save% under .700
BOS- Cupidon will rebound and put up 8 goals
NYR-Stiivii will put up 12 points
NYR- Kozmo will finish with a GAA under 2.50
NYR – mjvoell will score 13 goals

Pittsburgh vs Toronto

Probably the most heated first round match up is being played between Pittsburgh and Toronto. The Leafs are an offensive juggernaut, led by Seguin and Benn, while the Pens have gone through an unbelievable transformation led by Polor.
The Leafs are a team driven by offense, with Seguin leading the way and consistently putting up numbers since game one, balanced with strong wingers on either side. This offense can run any team out of the building with their relentless attack and consistent finish. However, that’s about all Toronto has. This is by far the worst defensive team in the playoffs, with numbers rivaling the lowly Blues and Islanders. lxl and Sliyum have been tasked with manning the blue line – and no defensive pair in the league has been guilty of more giveaways and goals against. Between the pipes, Capsrule and Turd will share the duties. Both have the thankless task of playing behind the struggling defense, with decent numbers but both need to find their consistency. If Toronto is going to win this series, the defense needs to step up in a huge way over their regular season play and the offense needs continue their consistently dangerous attack.
Pittsburgh is a very well-balanced team, lacking superstars but playing solid up and down the line up. TYLERisGOD is the obvious leader up front, not only putting up great offensive numbers but also playing an extremely responsible game in his own zone. The blue line has been solid, with Ajax and BiPolor leading the way and finding ways to shut down high-flying offensive teams frequently. Consistency has been a bit of an issue on the blue line, and they’ll need to lock it down against an opponent as dangerous as Toronto. In goal, PNC will need to have a huge series and come up with a lot of difficult saves. He’s capable, but these Leafs can light up even the best goaltending in SP.
The rivalry here makes this a very fun one to watch. Expect an all-out battle. One thing’s for sure, New Jersey is in for a challenge in Round 2 no matter who comes out of this series. You know either team will be carrying a ton of momentum after this emotionally charged first round.

Bruins Vs Senators

One of the most interesting first round match ups is set between the Bruins and Senators, two teams separated by just two points in the standings. These clubs have shared similar stories this season, with slow starts turning into successful seasons and suddenly playoff threats.
The Senators turnaround came mostly from within the original roster, with Triix and Kingly leading the way with 83 pts and 51 pts respectively. Without the early trade to acquire Kingly at the start of the season, Ottawa could very well be sitting without a playoff berth. Overall, this is a team with phenomenal offensive depth but a very thin blue line. SgtVandoos has done a great job this season facing over 380 shots, trailing only VeZzZy for save % with this volume of shots faced. If Ottawa’s defense can’t figure it out, this will be a very short series.
Boston relied on deft moves by Pete. The team sat 15th in the league before Grippinq was traded in a package for DodgesBlueShells, one of the best shut down D-men in SP. From there, moves to acquire TheAppler (1.9 PTS/G) and major contributions from LeCupidon (3.1 PTS/G) turned the season around. However, Rambo will need to step up from a poor .745 sv% (among the worst for goaltenders with over 12 GP) if the Bruins stand a chance.
One of the most interesting moves came just before the deadline as Triix and Pete pulled off a trade with Dangles and Steel heading to Ottawa while Dynasty and Hippy came back to Boston for some positional depth.
On paper, these are two very evenly matched teams. The offensively talented Senators vs. the defensive Bruins.
Here’s how they matched up this season:

Faceoff Glitch

Face off glitches are an issue in NHL 18. These things are not permitted in this league and are covered under the rule book under the disciplinary section.
E) using or abusing game glitches that are clearly not a desired effect by the game designer will result in suspensions.
There are certain faceoffs that trigger a glitch effect they are:
-auto wins: The player wins all draws, the ones he loses are teleported back to his stick regardless of it going back to the D on a clean win.
-loop: the player can manually create a loop effect off the draws resetting the game back to a faceoff position. please note this can also happen without a player glitching so no witch hunts lol.
these were already banned from league play based on the rule stated up above. However a new form of faceoff trickery has come to my attention. The R1 holding trick. This action creates a poke check off the face off. This itself is not a glitch. numerous actions can be done right after a draw, body check, poke check, stick lift, shot block, dive, you name it. This is not a glitch this is just holding a button and its action activates the second the game starts moving. However this is where it gets odd. the animation takes effect during a faceoff animation so it can look strange and “suspicious” i ran a test to see its actual effectiveness, we did roughly 40 maybe more faceoffs and discovered it had 0 impact on the actual faceoffs. i attempted the poke check function while the other c used regular faceoffs. while using just r1 to poke i lost 100% of the draws. Then the next test we did was i held R1 and then used normal faceoff controls. i lost 80% roughly of the draws. (turns out i suck at C) sucky or not it gave me absolutely no edge. I am very convinced if you lose a draw to a player poking, then you lost that draw anyway.
Now with that said. This action will be banned from league play for the following reasons.
-the sweeping poke check motion has a very low chance of making contact with a loose puck but it does have a chance. although rare, it can have an impact on a potential important faceoff.
-although the poke is not entirely a “cheat” glitch it is still a glitch to the animation where it shouldnt be.
-most importantly is that this R1 button does not cheat effectively to call it a cheat but it is used in combo with other things to do the actual glitch faceoffs that allow for auto wins. the auto win draw glitch uses the R1 poke to work.
I feel that even though this poke check faceoff is ineffective and pointless to do it is still a key part of the big glitches. There is no reason to do this unless you intend to cheat with it. From this day until fixed any caught using R1 on draws whether intending to glitch or just look silly you will be considered in violation of this rule and suspended minimum 3 games.
